Have you tryed another slot??? Do you have an slot expander? Have you changed the slot the ATA_IDE is in?
Maybe dust in contacts, or something like this. You can also use a multitester and look for every pin on slot and this correspondent in the main board (i.e. the Z80, where most of pins are directly connected). So you got A0 in slot, take the pin at the z80 that is also A0, look for short-circuit. Do this with all other pins. If you got any problem... there is the answer. Maybe one circuit on the motherboard has died, or something like this. If still with problems, you can buy another MSX2+ and send yours to me as a gift. I pay the postal taxes :) Good luck.
