So I think there is nothing preventing me from developing a FUSE system driver in msysGit, with the further benefit that I do not have to send more money into Redmond's way, which I would find morally wrong. However, I do not think that we ever could/would be able to have file system drivers in (Win)Git, as they need to be installed with administrator's permissions, and they are too dependent on the exact Windows version you are using anyway.
