If the database has large number of records and you are using a highly
complex query, then SP will show a significant improvemnt in performance
over a quary written directly within the exe file. We replaced Queries in
the EXE file with SP (on SQL Server 2000) in a costing software and the
response time of some processes changed from 45 seconds to as low as 11
seconds.
The main benefit of SP is that ADO.net does not need to get the entire data
from the server to the client pc and then process it. The server processes
the data and then sends only the processed data to the client. I think that
is probably where the main saving is.

Hi Mary,
1) SPs are definitely faster, but like Nauzad said, how fast is debatable.
2) U need not recompile UR app if all settings are provided in the xml
config file.
3) For processing "clicks" of ToolBar buttons, you use the ButtonClick
method of the ToolBar control as follows:
private void toolBar1_ButtonClick(object sender,
System.Windows.Forms.ToolBarButtonClickEventArgs e)
{
// Find out which button was clicked.
switch (e.Button.Text)
{
case "Add":
// Do Add.
case "Delete":
// Do Delete.
:
:
}
}
HTH.
Regards,
Ajay Singala [Synergetics].
