Thank you very much. That pointed me in the right direction. I wrote up a short description of my scripts in case anyone else was interested in doing this. It was a bit of work, mostly because I can't use sed or program in bash to save my life, but probably worth it in the long run (certainly more fun than typing in my publcations into three or four different databases each time I manage to publis something).
