In the starting post, it was not specified that resampling was also
used - the question was:

"Is it possible to use a filter to compensate for high frequency
signal loss due to interpolation? For example linear or hermite
interpolation."

Without specifying that variable rate playback is involved, that could
be understood in various ways - for example, at first I thought the
interpolation was for the purpose of a (static or modulated)
fractional delay line. A third possible situation is using
linear/hermite interpolation as an upsampling filter in a 2^N
oversampler.

It was only specified 18 posts later, that the interpolation is used
for variable pitch playback.

These three situations all are different, and different formulas apply...

And the combination oversampling and linear/hermite interpolation can
also be meant in multiple ways.
