The University of Miami Frost School of Music is accepting applications for a Full-Time Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor in Music Engineering Technology for the Fall 2017 semester. The successful candidate will have a strong record of accomplishment, demonstrated expertise in current music engineering theory, and will be engaged in impactful and visionary lines of research. This opportunity coincides with other major developments in the program, including the commission of a new state-of-the art recording studio and innovation/research facility. Principal duties will include: undergraduate and graduate teaching, course development and advising, scholarly research, mentoring student research, and participating in service activities. Research areas of particular interest include the human auditory system and psychoacoustics, specifically with application to audio compression techniques, audio signal processing approaches for identifying, classifying, preventing, and correcting hearing deficiencies and audio signal processing for studio effects and software synthesis. Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in music engineering research and development
Demonstrated track record in writing grant proposals and securing research grants Advanced knowledge of one or more of the following topics: audio signal processing, transducer theory, computational psychoacoustics, mobile app audio programming, acoustics Significant teaching experience in music engineering, electrical or computer engineering in a college/university environment
Master of Science degree is required, Ph. D. is preferred.
