I wrote most of that, I think. It was compiled from comments on the mailing lists.

I can note, however, that it isn't really being followed at the moment. (it used to say to drop "www." and the majority of links includes it, I've also seen people adding the links to both the original and re- releases)

Maybe there isn't really a need for it (except the "/soundtrack" rule, which could for example be added to the AR description?) I could for example just as well see the use of the IMDB URL as a grouping element of all soundtracks of a movie...

Yep, I read that. But why? :) From database point of view, adding a
new instance of existing URL is very cheap. From usability point of
view the link it means two clicks instead of one.

And the AR type phrase says "<release> is a soundtrack for the movie
with an IMDb page at <url>", which apply to both original releases and
re-releases.

To be honest; I didn't write that page, I just thought it was mature
enough to be made official ;) Can I conclude you issued a veto?
