interesting. it seems that few groups have an elected board. based on what i
hear here and in conversation with people from a couple of other communities
that have elected boards, 'coercion' and begging are the primary slating
mechanisms. and, the unelected boards seem to have more continuity, ie  the
same people serving for a longer number of years than with elected boards.
is this impression incorrect?
