The rest of my story: I've been bitten really hard by the organizing bug. We have all realized that many things that have been done in the past, or that have NOT been done for many years, are new to most of us. Nobody sits down with a new officer and says, This is how you do such and such. Everybody has just been left to do a job the way they see fit. Trouble with that is, some people do nothing (I did nothing my first year, as historian), or there's just no continuity. So now, we're trying to codify things a little, put them into writing as we see the need; how to run a special dance (besides our annual weekend--we have that one down), how to give GREAT hospitality to out-of-town guests, etc.
In speaking with CDSS last week I learned that one of their people, Linda Henry, is putting together some info, kind of a manual, for organizers who want to start a dance. She said she's hoping to have it on the site under "News" in a week or so.
