Sue--

1. The Cornwall, Vermont dance--a family dance with a house band and guest callers--is on a Saturday, starts at 7:00 and ends at 9:30; there's a short break, 10 minutes at most; 2. Burlington's Queen City Contra dance--guest band & callers--is on a Friday night, starts at 8, ends at 11:00 with a 15-20 minute break; 3. Burlington's Mad Robin Caller's Collective dance--guest band & callers-- is on a Friday, night, starts at 8, ends at 11:00 with a 15-20 minute potluck dessert break; 3. Montpelier's Contra Dance Umbrella, aka Capital City Grange dance-- guest band & callers--Saturday, starts at 8, ends at 11, 15-20 minute break; 4. Montpelier's "Chestnuts"--traditional, old-timey dances--house band, guest callers, Saturday, 8-11 with a dessert potluck at the break--"20 minutes sounds right" says my spouse.

Good luck with your new dance.

Hi All,
I'm in the process of organizing a new dance series (old style Community Contra with a variety of dance forms). It will be on a week-day evening. I'm wondering how long others run their regular dances, not including beginner sessions or potlucks or such. And typically how long is your mid-break?
    Thanks!

P.S. And thanks also for all the sharing that has gone on in the past on Shared Weight. I have lots of good notes and ideas from past posts (from the Callers list).
