The word I've heard from radio ad reps is that people generally start
thinking about what they're going to do that weekend no earlier than
Wednesday. So, Tuesday or Wednesday would make sense if your dance is on
the weekend. If it's mid-week, I personally will do a vague sketch of my
weeknights on Sunday or Monday, so correspondingly those might be good
times to send out those invites. Overall, I'd say about 3-4 days out.

As for when during the day, it doesn't really matter, but my guess is the
heaviest Facebook use is in the evening and around lunchtime.
