I think that such an option should be added.

I don't think that Ctrl-G should abort the entire search. But there should
be a way to abort a search, whether you get a prompt or not. That's bug
#3078.
Or perhaps, once Ctrl-G is typed, Mutt should no longer prompt for a
passphrase until the end of this search.
(Note: I've replaced the circumflex accent by "Ctrl-" due to wiki
formatting.)
