Thanks, Michael. In the past, I already considered switching to maildir, but never had a good reason to. Now I've created an experimental setup and it works as intended - after setting maildir_trash :) Derek, I had already typed a much longer response, but condensed it down to this: the desire to return to the exact mailbox state after a log-off or reboot that may have been beyond user control. Like any other tool that allows saving a snapshot of the current work.
