Hi Omen,

mutt-1.6.2 does not have the sidebar in it. Our default branch in the
repository has the sidebar, and it will be released in 1.7.

The second patch doesn't match against the latest version, and I believe
it may be that neomutt-1.6.2 didn't include the fixes in
  https://dev.mutt.org/hg/mutt/rev/6f2fe8f32dab and
  https://dev.mutt.org/hg/mutt/rev/ec4c113a3d2b
for some reason.

You may want to check the behavior of our default tip.

The buffy->new check was added because when $mail_check_stats is unset,
the default, then msg_unread won't be populated (except for IMAP).

I don't understand why this should bother you though. unread>0 should
almost always be a superset of new.
