#3967: Missing/wrong last character in subject after quitting vim while replying

When I reply to a message that has as subject the line e.g. "Μηνιαία Έξοδα
Αυγούστου" (Greek) by pressing r, after I quit vim, I see that the subject
line has been truncated to "Re: Μηνιαία Έξοδα Αυγούστο",i.e. the subject
seems to have lost it's last character (υ). At the index list I see that
the subject has become "RE: Μηνιαία Έξοδα Αυγούστο�", with a � character
at the end...
