Yes you are right. My apologies if I offended you.
For the moment I will continue to use elm (it's frustrating now that I know
what a good MUA, namely mutt, should be like), as this will give me a point
of comparison. If I have the same problem, I will go back to using mutt and
keep delving for the real problem.
I know it wasn't a proper bug report, but I was in the position I was in,
after the fact, and I was hoping someone might know that I was doing
something obviously wrong (despite my venting at mutt itself).
What you will find - and here is a _key_ point (that so many miss and leads
to endless flames) - is that people like me (who have a gripe) often
_really want to use_ the application they are complaining about. They have
had their workmates, sys admin, friends and or web pages rave about it,
they've decided it looks good, etc and their _expectation_ is built up.
People are often fragile and (incorrectly) take offence when their
expectation is not met. You rightly point out it is most likely a problem
with the person's use of the app/ their environment.
