I'm not sure exactly when support for that syntax was was added, but it
doesn't exist in the mutt 1.5.9 that I have available to test.  So
presumably the OP does need to arrange for separate "-a" options for
each attached file (at least as long as Mutt 1.4.2 is being used....).
