Tim,

This sounds like the same problem that H2s were having and I had posted a long involved power cycling procedure that would allow the H2 to boot without a hitch. The new kernel 2.4.31 completely solves this behavior and boots flawlessly each time (on the H2). You should either try the procedure (outlinied in the wiki) or the new kernel to see if the behavior goes away.

Cheers...

Sergio

Subject:  [Mvpmc-users] MVP H3 doesn't work stable with mvpmc
Date:  Wed, 22 Nov 2006 10:19:19 +0100

Martin,

After the last mail conversation, I noticed something strange. I've two identical mvp's(H3) which both have
worked fine. But now for 2 days I can't get the one of them booting mvpmc anymore.
(Model 86020 Rev H3 Lot 2106)

behaviour:
-Startup
-Splash screen hauppage 2.05
-Network, push ok button (which I do not)
-Contacting severs
-Loading application
-Reboot of mvp
-Splash screen hauppage 2.05, but stops at last square (nothing happens anymore)

The other mvp has sometimes the same behaviour.
It behaves like this, after it has no power for a longer period of time (12 hours). After the wrong behaviour I unplug the
power wait a few minutes and plug it back in and then it does work ok.

I tried the 0.31 mvpmc release and the daily builds. (not the 2.4.31 kernel)

I know it's not much to go on, but I'm of course willing to run some tests to find the problem.

Best regards,

Tim

I actually asked someone else at the same time who had the same
problem.  It turns out this command only works on the dongles built
with the 2.4.31 kernel.  He provided his file and it turns out to be
the same as mine Hauppauge
1.1.38 is in flash.  If you want to boot
with the alternate .31 with the new kernel you could confirm this but
I don't think that is necessary.

That is the same as mine on an H1, but interestingly enough the user

with the problem has 2.03.  This might be the actual problem.
