Mine's got a similar all-purpose-home-server job, serving files, music 
etc and being a mythtv head with three WinTV-PVRx50 cards. LVM on 
software raid may take its toll, though. I have 6 RAID's over 3-4 
drives, all together in a volume group, and then split up from there.

I'll have to check back at a time when I don't have any or maximally one 
recording running on myth. See how it works then. But as said, the box 
is not really optimized - no need for that, until now.
