I'm thinking that it's probably time for mvpmc to change its configuration
file. Currently, the file sets up configuration options for the box, but all
MVPMC options are specified on the commandline. What if instead of (or in
addition to) the commandline, the configurations could be specified in the
same or some other config file. For example...

/etc/mvpmc.config -----------------

# GLOBAL SETTINGS
SCREEN_TYPE=NTSC
SPDIF=FALSE

# and so on ...

# SERVER SETTINGS

DEFAULT_SERVER=192.168.10.1
#MYTHTV_SERVER=
#SLIMSERVER=
EMULATION_SERVER=192.168.10.2
#VLC_SERVER

# VLC SETTINGS
VLC_QUALITY=dvd
VLC_BITRATE=5000

# etc...

# REMOTE CONTROL SETTINGS
# each button on the remote can be assigned to a particular mvpmc "module"

TV_BUTTON=mythtv
RADIO_BUTTON=mclient
PICTURES_BUTTON=filesystem:/share/media/images
FF_BUTTON=30
RW_BUTTON=10
FSKIP_BUTTON=120
BSKIP_BUTTON=120
OK_BUTTON=statistics
GUIDE_BUTTON=guide

# etc

Is it possible (and if not, then I suggest this as a feature) to map the
button keys for easier access to parts of the file system? Allow me to
explain.

On my Hauppage remote, there are buttons for TV, Videos, Pictures, Music,
Radio, etc. It would be nice if the Videos button could be programmed to
go
to a specific place in the file system; same for music and the others. In
fact, radio would be great if it could load the net radio playlist.

While on the topic, would it be possible to map one remote button to "cd
.."
when in the file system? It's just a convenience thing. My fs is rather
deep
and can be slow to navigate at times.

Thanks.

Brett
