It is AC3-liba52, not mpeg. I don't think the capture software
actually does anything except split out the streams, all
of the OTA streams I have looked at have been ac3.
From what I gather the ATSC OTA are a single multiplexed
stream of data that can include multiple video and audio
streams, the ATSC card I have + mythtv splits the stream
into the component that you chose to record, you can also
record the entire stream (multiple channels-not in mythtv,
needs a command line tool that came with the card called
getatsc), and then have mplayer pick one stream or another
(with -tsprog) and display it. I believe the stream being
put on disk by mythtv is basically one subchannel of the
main stream coming from the TV station. From what I know
all encoding is already done in the original stream coming OTA.
If you can give me someplace to upload and what you sort
of resolutions you want, or if you want the entire stream
uploaded I can ftp/scp/... it whereever.
