Yes/no.
There was an email in the last few days, where I have been going over  
the same things.
I think it will play the ac3 like it does at the moment, but the audio/ 
video will be out of sync.

I am thinking of removing the ac3 decoding code altogether and try  
playing an mp3 stream I will add to my vob.

If that works then I will try and work out how to sync the audio/video.

If the audio/video is in sync then I could do that hardware mod and buy  
a set of speakers that decode the ac3, but I don't believe the optical  
output changes the sync situation.
