I've been running Simon's dongle this past week and my observations are similar. The "starving audio buffer" symptom is gone. The black screen symptom I only ever see when skipping over the first commercial break of a show. That seems oddly specific. Additionally, I've have seen an instance or two of the video freezing (while audio keeps going) and audio being way out of sync with the video.
