I would guess with some knowledge of how to add/delete things to
the myth server it would be possible to copy and add a separate
entry for the hd entry after you have trancoded it, I don't have
the knowledge right now of how to easily read out, and add an entry
for either the transcoded file or the original file, though it would
not seem that hard to create an script/executable that given an
original mythtv file created a new entry for a new file with xxx_sd.mpg
that slightly modified the title.

Right now I just put the converted SD version in place of the HD file and
myth picks it up correctly as I don't typically ever watch the HD versions, 
right now I don't delete the HD files (for a while) in case I need to debug a 
conversion issue.
