(>> /nfs/mount/mvpmc.log 2>&1). Had a little trouble getting NFS installed and working, but eventually managed to get a logfile produced. However, in true Gremlin style mvpmc is now performing perfectly! Reverting to the CIFS mount I had before didn't re-create the problem, so I'm investigating further. I'm also allowing the MVP to cool down to see if it's a temperature-related problem. (Normally I turn it on, spend 20 minutes getting annoyed trying to watch something and then turn it off.) Even if I don't get to the bottom of this, my posting to the list has resulted in a postive outcome, so thanks! For anyone else trying to setup NFS on Debian etch, some tips: + Install the 'nfs-kernel-server' package (v1:1.0.10 worked for me) rather than 'nfs-user-server', which doesn't seem to work. + Avoid symbolic links - they work differently under NFS to CIFS/Samba + Don't change /etc/default/portmap to restrict it to a single (non-localhost) interface as this stops the nfs daemon from starting.
