USB Ethernet adapters probably only work iff the driver is already inside the WD box. At least that's what I would expect. (For instance, old TIVOs can be hacked to include a wireless adapter only because the drivers are already part of the linux distribution inside.) Hummm, and the other-other thought is that WD wants you to sneaker net the media to it's box using its HDDs. Ah, you assumed these companies are still engineering companies! It's more likely they have done away w/most if not all of that (if they had any to begin w/) hoping to gain it back after the drought. In general, what I expect you will find more and more are the same pacific rim guts under different labels. You have to chuckle when reading review after review of what is essentially the same media extender. However, like I said, judging from the brief product video, this WD box doesn't look like it's running Syabas/linux software. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Mvpmc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/mvpmc-users mvpmc wiki: http://mvpmc.wikispaces.com/
