It uses both mono and (soon) direct access via component but honestly
mono (and amp_test for DVD play back) do so much that a huge
development team would be needed to replace them.  I haven't
implemented comskip yet but I expect too.  I was hoping Syabas (the
vendor) would distribute new firmware that handles mpeg-ts files
better first, but I don't think this is going to happen.

I have been finding coding around HMDI and HDCP the biggest
limitation.  GB-PVR users seem to accept component to get
functionality but nearly everyone prefers HDMI.

I haven't seen the number of MythTV or other PVR users on the PCH
forums to make any market impact.  There is much more demand from
people who don't want any external server.
