Good.

By "see a few recordings" do you mean you watched an entire show, or
just a few minutes of several different recordings?

I presume you've tried restarting mvpmc via the green button on the
remote, and you've found that doesn't temporarily resolve the problem?

How many recording do you have in your MythTV database?

The first thing that comes to mind is that the bitrate of the recordings
is too high.

I asked earlier what you were using for tuner hardware. A related
question is what settings are you using in your MythTV recording
profile. There's a page on the mvpmc wiki that has a chart of recording
settings that work best with mvpmc. Though usually it can handle the
default settings you get with MythTV out of the box.

Try testing the throughput of your network by browsing to a MythTV
recording in mvpmc, pressing the menu button, selecting throughput test,
and letting it run for 30 seconds or so.

Is your MVP wired or wireless? What networking hardware stands between
your MVP and your MythTV server?

Not error messages I'm familiar with, but perhaps it could also mean
that mvpmc doesn't like the video format.

For example, I seem to recall reading that the MPEG transmission streams
provided by digital tuners sometimes need to be cleaned up before they
can be consumed by mvpmc. (In addition to having the audio transcoded,
which has been discussed here numerous times.)

Unlikely. I had been running a similar version, as packaged for Ubuntu
Hardy (8.04) until just recently when I switched to the weekly builds of
the 0.21-fixes branch as provided by Mythbuntu. I haven't noticed any
differences.
