I leave mine with the interface off but everything else running (powered off by the remote). I've found that if I don't a few things don't behave well. Such as an apparent increase in how often it will reboot when attempting to skip commercials and an apparent inability to detect commercials in shows. As long as I shut it off with the remote whenever it's not in use it seems to work quite well. -- Jamin W.
