One fly in the ointment is that I don't want to stream video files per se.
My PVR-500 output is mapped to a file system object (/dev/video1) by the Video
For Linux 2 driver.
I think it is dicey to share any part of the /dev hierarchy over the network,
but at this point I'm desperate to make this work without having to install a
big PVR package just to get a Live TV interface.
I guess my next try will be to mount the server /dev as a CIFS share and see
what happens when MVPMC browses down to video1. No extension on this file
stream object...
I'm confused that MVPMC can play audio streams from a http: URI but not video.
