No you still have it wrong , the Hauppauge dongle and Emulation mode work pretty much the same way, the server shouldn't even be aware it is running with mvpmc. The speed difference is the Hauppauge dongle isn't very good at what it does. There are still some fundamental MVP networking issues but I find overall emulation mode runs better than the Hauppauge dongle. There's not much more I can say on this, other than try GB-PVR, it already has LiveTV, EPG etc, and instead of kluding web pages you can write plugins to do pretty much anything you want.
