Not necessarily--CrossOver Mac has been in existence for at least a year. Not
sure about generic Wine.

For those to whom this thread is getting obscure: CrossOver (by CodeWeavers) is
a commercial product that originally ran Windows software on Linux, and now
does the same on MacOS X. It's based on the Wine (Wine is Not an Emulator) free
software project.

For another data point, I've been running MLO on CrossOver Linux for at least a
year now, with few hiccups (beyond those other Linux users have mentioned). I'd
be confident it would work the same way under Mac, but I have no direct
experience.

Thanks for the feedback Justin, I will check it out. You mentioned
that you "have run MLO under Wine and CrossOver". Does that mean you
are no longer running MLO on a Mac, and if so, why?
