i use a compaq laptop - 3702 au. it must be a common problem with compaqs but my keyboard had stopped compltely resonding too... i dual boot Ubuntu and windblows vista!! vista btw has an onscreen keyboard which i struggled with for a week or two before i got the keyboard fixed. one advantage i had on vista was i got this onscreen keyboard during the log-in screen... *is there anyway to get the onscreen keyboard during the log-in process in Ubuntu?* unfortunately for me, i couldn't even get till the log in screen on Ubuntu since my keyboard wouldn't respond during the boot process and i boot vista as default... hey i must admit... no matter how much i loathe vista - it is very accessible... helped me survive a keyboard breakdown. -Rajath.
