Follow-up Comment #1:
We cannot fix, or even evaluate this issue without at least a stacktrace.
That can be done by using gdb (the GNU debugger), after you've made sure to
install the relevant debug headers.
Also, why are you not using the distro provided packages for Debian? Do they
have the same issue? And have you tried latest git?
