Details:
Scenario:
You have an image with
* one 1000x1000 pixel layer
* one 50x50 layer
* one 100x600 layer
and you're almost out of memory.
When you click add layer, mypaint should look at the size of your largest
layer (a safe presumption), examine how much memory it has available, and
throw a warning saying:
"Warning: Adding another large layer may exhaust your memory. continue?
OK/cancel"
It's not incredibly accurate, but it would at least give a user warning
before an OOME happened.
