Follow-up Comment #1:
We already save a version number with each brush, and use it to detect old
versions of the brush format, and we also do migrate settings to new values if
they were changed/scaled/renamed.
Very early MyPaint versions used to sort the brushlist such that the most used
brush was on top. It was very confusing to users, so I removed it again. These
days, we don't even record the usage any more.
There is already the "parent brush" name saved. It's not really useful,
because a new brush is often created by changing all settings of an existing
brush completely.
FYI brushes are saved (without preview PNG) into each ORA file.
