Follow-up Comment #1, bug #20834 (project mypaint):

This is most likely a GTK2 (or Xorg) tablet/input device problem. Please try
to reproduce with MyPaint git, which uses GTK3. GTK3 has re-arranged input
devices support quite a bit.

If you want a workaround, it may have to do with USB device unplugging (check
"dmesg" output). Or check here:

If you want to get a better error message, try to switch to a system console
(Ctrl-Alt-F2) and start MyPaint from there (after typing "export DISPLAY=:0"),
and switch back (Ctrl-Alt-F7 or similar), or use the "screen" utility instead.
