hi Ramón I'm starting to think more and more that "a good brushset that covers most needs" is a very personal thing, and there is no way we can really get it right. I think the best thing we can do is make it inviting to pick and build your own personal collection.
I agree that the scale (hires/lowres) is a problem, and consistency of the concepts/classification in general. If we start to mix brushsets from different sets, they all have to be tweaked to fit together. Could the result really be good and consistent, if the person who creates them does in fact prefer to use a different personal collection for real use? Sadly collections built out of default brushes tend to look like a bunch of different vegetables thrown together carelessly. This approach "looks wrong" to users and maybe leaves the feeling that they should be sticking to a single brushset instead. Which is also a good way to approach MyPaint as a new user, but most people will probably want to explore the different possibilities of all brushes first. Just some thoughts.
