Resetting the view seems to pretty much guarantee that the mirror of
anything I draw will not be visible.
The 'center' usually ends up at the far right of the visible area.
Moving layers can help.

IMO it's easier to demo by drawing something with symmetry on, loading
something else, then loading what you just draw, and checking whether the
centre of symmetry is in the same place as it clearly was when you drew it.
