I don't think the remark about Oracle being free for Linux is correct.
Certainly you can download it or Oracle will send you it on CD (but you
can do the same for Oracle for NT, for example, or IBM's DB2). Start to
deploy it, however, rather than use it as a personal learning tool, and
you have to pay (or else Larry will come and get you!).

I write this because I don't want anyone to struggle installing it,
buying ooodles of memory, etc. etc. and *then* realise they can't afford
to use it!
