Your friend has the right idea; proceed with extreme caution. I have heard
(from colleagues that work on this product) that Terminal server(TS) is a
very different animal from the standard or enterprise NT. In fact they have
spent many long nights troubleshooting it. Often there are lots of
customized applications running in conjunction with TS. They have seen it
crash from installing software that replaces or "updates" TS specific dlls,
with a blue screen result.
Unless you are a TS expert, it is hard to tell what these dlls are. Ghost a
copy of the TS machine to another, identical machine for testing, then
install MySQL. Simply building a second terminal server is not sufficient.
There may be custom libraries and other stuff on there that are not readily
noticable.
