First read the MySQL Manual all about the privileges system (GRANT/REVOKE
command, How works the privilege system on MySQL, etc). You need to
grant the privileges for the Win2k machine, user and db's on the MySQL
server running on Linux server.
If you will use MyODBC and with the privileges sets properly and you
have the connection refused, maybe you need to install the encryption
feature of Samba on your Linux server, I am not completely sure about
this, but I guess that the ODBC standard use the Windows authentication to
make the connection, in this case Win2k only has the encryption way.
