I may add that I also tried;
1. I kill the mysqld-process on the server. 2. I start mysqld_safe by typing; "mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables &" 3. Connect to the mysqld-server by doing; "shell> mysql -u root" 4. Inside, I write; UPDATE mysql.user SET Password=PASSWORD('my_new_password') WHERE User='root'; and get the following reply from mysql; Query OK, 5 rows affected (0.00 sec) Rows matched: 5 Changed: 5 Warnings: 0 5.Still inside mysql, I write; FLUSH PRIVILEGES; and get the following reply; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) According to http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/resetting-permissions.html I should now be able to login using "my_new_password*, but this doesn't happen. What is the next step? Thank you. N.P. On Apr 5, 2005 6:11 PM, X y <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I do the following; > > 1. I kill the mysqld-process on the server. > > 2.
