Suppose that I want to create a table with a column named "DETAILS" that will contain textual data. Performance-wise, does it matter if I represent this column with, say, a 200-char varchar or a larger type like text or mediumtext but be sure that only textual data smaller than 200 chars is going to be stored in it?
