What files are in the C:\MYSQL\BIN directory? If there is no file named MYSQLD.EXE, you have found the problem. Very likely there is one called MYSQLD-SHAREWARE.EXE or something like that. Suggestion? Uninstall the software provided with the book ... and download the current version (3.23.37) from www.mysql.com or one of the mirrors. Make sure you download the binary as opposed to the source. Suggestion #2: The manual (online and with the software you download) will answer most of your questions with a little reading. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brad Casiano" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, April 30, 2001 9:06 PM Subject: BUG > To Whom it May Concern, > I have downloaded mysql from the cd provided to me in the book "PHP: fast and easy web development" . To test the MySQL installation, at the MS-DOS command prompt I typed > cd c:\mysql\bin. Followed by: > c:\mysql\bin>mysqld --standalone <ENTER> > I receive a BAD COMMAND OR FILENAME ERROR. > Can you explain why? > > Brad > --------------------------------------------------------------------- Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, e-mail <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Trouble unsubscribing?
