I tried to go into mysql with root and the password I had set, and access was refused.
I finally gave up and decided to reset the root password using the techniques described on http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/4.1/en/resetting-permissions.html This is a linux machine running mysql Your MySQL connection id is 5 to server version: 4.1.7-standard I have tried both the mysqld_safe --init-file=/home/iepm/v3src/minit which has the password setting statement in it And this does not work...I cannot get into mysql with the password. I have also tried mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables --user=root & And tried setting the password and doing flush privileges. This also does not work. I am at my wits end as to how to do this, which I have been able to do before. Any insight and assistance would be appreciated.
