Pretty much the only way you're going to find out is by giving it a shot. :) I imagine it shouldn't take too much time to setup. Server and query tuning is what will take most time, but I suspect it will be worth it in the end.
Once you have your setup, it'd be worth explaining your data and how you work with it in more detail as the list will be able to help you tune your database.
