DB the server won't respond immediately
causing the conenct to time-out..
Does your script start with an information_schema query? The frist one
of those is painfully slow with MySQL.
Did you try set_time_limit( 0 )?

No firewall issues and no network related issues. The only thing that I
noticed is that the server's average load is 60%.
