Hi,
I run a mysql host that currently has about 5500 seperate mysql
databases. Yesterday one of my users reported to me that he couldn't
connect. I suspected many of the usual culprits (grants, network, wrong
password etc) but I eventually came to find that the database is *gone*
without a trace. That is, the directory in ~mysql/var is gone. Needless to
say, the user is upset and the anger is mostly directed at me.
I believe my security is set up ok. And for the moment I'm going to
rule that out. I'm also going to *assume* that he didn't "drop database
mydatabase" for the moment. Are there any other known issues that can
cause something like this to happen?
I've grepped my log for clues. It only goes back a few days as I
truncate it at about a GB.
Regards,
Gary "SuperID" Huntress
