I think the worst part about the books is that with things like PHP, Apache and MySQL, by the time you find (i.e. from browsing at the local library) and sit down to learn, it's talking about MySQL 3.22, Apache 1.2, and PHP3.
Nothing beats the online documentation.. amen to that. :) You might try some sites like webmonkey.com for php tutorials.
